Interested in finding a new job? Check out this month’s Job Hunting Tips to help make your search a success!
- #1 Brief the company you keep
Research the companies that could potentially hire you! Before attending an interview be sure to know why the company was created, the objective, and the values they represent. Employers are likely to hire individuals who possess initiative; researching a company likely to hire you shows that.
- #2 A proactive schedule
Should anything change in your schedule that interferes with an interview, notify your potential employer immediately. Upon notifying them, give two or three alternative dates that you’re available for an interview and be sure to apologize for any inconvenience.
- #3 You only get one chance
Did you know it takes only three to five seconds for someone to form a first impression? Your first impression is your last impression, make sure it’s a great one! Be prepared, confident, competent, knowledgeable, and approachable.
- #4 Yes, you applied for that job
When applying for open positions, keep a list or directory of your recent applications for at least three months. Often recruiters perform bulk hiring that could begin a significant time after you’ve applied for a position. To avoid the awkward pause from an unfamiliar contact be sure to follow this tip!
